About our Church
Word of Life Christian Center is a non-denominational church with Pentecostal beliefs and practices. Yes, we believe in the power of the Gospel of Christ to change and transform lives! Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. The only answer is Jesus and we as the Church have been commissioned to carry out the great task of reaching souls for the Kingdom of God. The Scripture says, “…to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’” (Acts 26:17-18) We must endeavor to use all resources possible to win souls to Christ!
We are a Church with a mission! It’s true, we are an inner-city church and what better place to be when it comes to reaching people. This church will not be appealing to the eyes, but if you’re looking for the truth to be preached and to be challenged by God’s Word, and if you desire the presence and anointing of God, then this is the place! We pray for you to have a hunger for God’s Word and that you will be challenged through the preaching and teaching of the Bible! We look to the Bible for guidance, for the steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord.
We have a large children’s ministry called “Royal Rangers & Missionettes” where we bus in 70 to 80 kids weekly. Our heart is to reach, teach and keep kids for Christ! Children need Jesus! Some live in very difficult circumstances that are out of their control. Jesus loves children! Jesus loves all people! God has put us here for a purpose and we must work while it is day for the night is soon to come. The work is hard and challenging, but worth it! To see Jesus transform the lives of children makes it worth it all! One day Jesus will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Yes, this is an active church with many ministries for all ages! We have Sunday School each Sunday morning for all ages. We have Sunday morning and evening worship along with our mid-week service. Currently we are doing a great study of going Through the Bible Book by Book. We also have Prayer Meetings, Women’s & Men’s Bible Studies, Ladies of Grace (Women’s Ministry) and Silver and Gold Ministry for those 55-years and older.
We are Pentecostal and believe in the Baptism in the Holy Ghost! Our worship is not dull, boring or mundane, but lively and purposeful. We know who we worship, His name is Jesus! We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Ghost as the Bible clearly teaches with the initial evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. We believe in the gifts and operations of the Holy Spirit and that God desires for these gifts to be active in His church. Many are afraid of the gifts of the Spirit, because they do not understand them. Paul told us not to be ignorant concerning the gifts. As a Christian, we are an open vessel for God to use as He chooses for the edification of the body of Christ and the glory of God! We simply humble ourselves as willing vessels for the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
Word of Life Christian Center initially started on a September 16, 1999 at the old YMCA. We rented a room for $112.50 per month and would meet on each Thursday night. We did this for 10-weeks before renting the old CWA building on Bellefontaine Ave. We were in this building for 2-years before purchasing the building where the church presently resides. Pastor Mark along with his wife, Tina was given a burden from the Lord to plant a church in Marion, Ohio and to reach as many souls as possible with the Gospel message! Pastor Mark is very enthusiastic in his style and preaches with great conviction! Yes, he actually believes what the Bible says and that it is the answer for the hurting soul.
If you wonder if anyone really cares, the answer is, yes! We care! Jesus cares! We want to see lives transformed and changed by the power of the cross! So many people are bound, frustrated, hurting, hooked on drugs or some other vice. Satan blinds the eyes of many, but Jesus came to set the captive free! Jesus died for you, He died for all. He lovingly and willingly laid His life down as a ransom for many. That means, you! That means, me! That means, everyone! We have seen people that once were captive by sin, set free! We have witnessed those who were bound by drugs or alcohol now set free! Some are even teaching in our church! That’s what Jesus can do for you!
